The paper entitled "Jacobian Weighted Temporal Total Variation for Motion Compensated Compressed Sensing Reconstruction of Dynamic MRI" has been accepted for publication at Magnetic Resonance in Medicine and it is currently in press.
The thesis "Machine Learning and Stochastic Modelling Approaches for Biomedical Signal Analysis", authored by Diego Martín-Martínez and supervised by Juan Pablo Casaseca and Carlos Alberola-López has been recently defended. El proyecto de investigación PROCESADO, ANALISIS Y REPRESENTACION DE IMAGENES DE DIFUSION. CUANTIFICACION DE LA REPARACION NEURONAL TRAS INFARTO, TRATAMIENTO DEL TDAH Y EVALUACION DE TUMORES CEREBRALES, con referencia TEC2010-17982, financiado por el Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad y finalizado en diciembre de 2013, acaba de recibir la evaluación del informe de seguimiento científico-técnico por parte del ministerio con la calificación de MUY SATISFACTORIO.
The LPI has taken part on the 33rd Conference of the Spanish Society of Biomedical Engineering (CASEIB2015), held in Madrid the 4th, 5th and 6th of November 2015. Three oral communications on the field of cardiac magnetic resonance processing were presented:
A new article on the effect that Acquisition Parameters over DTI scalars has been published on the open-source journal PLOS One: "Impact of MR Acquisition Parameters on DTI Scalar Indexes: A Tractography Based Approach". This study presents an analysis on the impact of simultaneous changes in multiple parameters: number of gradient directions, b-value and voxel resolution over scalar measures such as the Fractional Anisotropy (FA) or the Mean Diffusivity (MD) . We employ a tractography-based approach.
The 2015 Jack Perkins Prize for the best paper in the journal Medical Physics and Engineering has been awarded to the 2014 paper entitled "Automatic detection of wakefulness and rest intervals in actigraphic signals: A data driven approach" co--authored by Diego Martín-Martínez (former PhD student at LPI and currently at Ernst and Young), Pablo Casaseca-de-la-Higuera (currently at the University of West Scotland at Paisley), the physicians Jesús Andrés-de-Llano, J.R. Garmendia and Susana Alberola-López, and by Carlos Alberola-López, professor at the University of Valladolid.
Un artículo científico- cuyos autores son el doctorando Diego Martín-Martínez y los profesores de la UVA Carlos Alberola López y Pablo Casaseca de la Higuera, además de los médicos pediatras Jesús Andrés de Llano, Garmendia y Susana Alberola López- ha recibido el Jack Perkins Prize 2015 al mejor artículo científico concedido por el Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine del Reino Unido.
Ariel H. Curiale, student with the LPI, has successfully presented his PhD thesis last Friday (July 24, 2015). The work was entitled "Contributions to assessment of cardiac failures by echocardiography image processing". His work focuses on the analysis and processing of 3D echocardiographic imaging, being its aim to provide technical support to accurately assess different myocardial failures from ultrasound data of the heart. Results provided are sought to be robust, independent of the intra- and inter-observer variability common in radiological interpretation.

The Project ACUMEN, funded by European Commission 7th Framework Program 2010, has published the first edition of a Ranking of scientists working in Castilla y León Institutions according to their Google Scholar Citations public profiles. This edition was built with data collected during the third week of April 2015 from the public profiles of researchers working at Castilla y León (Spain) Institutions. It is a BETA Ranking of the scientists according to their declared (voluntarily) presence in the Google Scholar Citations database. [Ranking]
