Founded in 1997, the LPI is an officially recognized research group by the University of Valladolid since 2005 and has been considered by the Junta de Castilla y León (regional government) as a "Group of Excellence" in 2014 (GREX326). Its main activity is focused on medical image analysis and biomedical signal processing. It has captured funds by an overall amount of more of 2 M€ from sources including several regional, national and European grants as well as from private companies. The group has published more than 50 papers in JCR indexed journals during the last ten years. It is currently constituted by 17 people, including 6 professors and 7 PhD students.

The group has steady collaborations with clinicians of the two main hospitals in the city of Valladolid (Hospital Clínico and Hospital del Río Hortega) as well as with the Complejo Asistencial Universitario de Palencia.

    • MRF and Level-sets segmentation

  • Intelligent imaging on MRI
  • Medical imaging modalities:
    • Radiography (hand, foot, teeth)
    • Ultrasound (fetal, kidney, heart)
    • MRI / DMRI / perfusion (brain, heart, liver)
